Blogger Image Issue

I got an email from one of my readers, Rebecca, asking me to help her with a problem which might be known to other people using Blogger platform.
She wants to display her own image into the blog’s header, but right now that image doesn’t show, although the link to the image is correct.
This made me think that others might look for the same answer, so I decided to post it here.

“Do you know how to keep your header pictures from disappearing? I keep saving them over and over but they inevitably go away.”

I think that she did just like anybody else would - upload the image just like for a normal post, copy the link to image and use that link.
So, what’s the problem with that?

Well, if you copy that link into your browser, instead of the image, you’ll going to get a message box asking if you want to see or save the image. Either way, you’ll be able to see it, but that’s not the “normal” behavior! This is where the problems are coming from.

The explanation is that Blogger is not allowing a direct link to uploaded images in order to stop anybody who might want to display your image by just copying its link! While this is a very good thing, it also has its unwanted effects like the problem I mention above and, unfortunately, there isn’t a workaround for this problem if you relay only on Blogger.

Solution

Upload your image on a hosting server (if you have one) or on a public free media hosting service – that is a website which allows you to upload your image on their server.

Tip: A very popular one is ImageShack, but I’m sure there are others as well (feel free to post them here!).

Hope this helps!

Hi! I use ImageShack for uploading my pictures whenever I need them for my blog. It’s easy to use, as it doesn’t require any registration or something like that.

Cheers!

Thanks, I will do this when I get home from work. Have a nice day!

Thanks for solving the blogger image issue. I think to prevent plagiarism and to improve security of website of popular blogging platforms have disabled the option of displaying an image through link location
