Text Link Ads vs. Image Ads
Have you ever wondered which type of ads are better for your site - text link ads or image ads?
For example, taking a standard leaderboard (728×90), is it better to have one image ad displayed there or 2-4 text link ads? In the majority of cases, the image ad will look more nicer than the text ones, but is it appealing enough so that the visitors would click more comparing to the other one?
Someone said that image ads are meant to be seen and text link ads are meant to be clicked on - is this true?
According to my personal behavior, I would say no because it all comes down to what I’m looking for. If I’m not looking for something in particular, then I might click on an nice image ad. Otherwise I would click on a text link ad, but then again, I’m doing my searches on Google, so I probably not going to end up clicking on a text link ad after all…
So why do I still have text ads on my site you might wonder? Well, first of all, not all the advertisers are investing their money into image ads and if they do, it’s probably just for the most common formats. And, secondly, maybe not all the people are doing the same as I do.
What do you think about this?
